Indian Knowledge Systems,
taught from the texts
Ojas Academy is building courses that teach each discipline from its own texts, with every source named and every calculation shown. Vāstu Śāstra comes first: its syllabi, Foundation to Professional, are published in full.
The disciplines the academy means to teach
Each taught from its own classical texts, with every tradition named and every rule's source given.
Computational Samskrit & Paninian Grammar
The Aṣṭādhyāyī as a generative system of rules, and the morphology and syntax it states.
Ayurveda & the Classical Treatises
The Charaka, Sushruta and Ashtanga Hridaya read as texts — their theory, their materia medica and their daily and seasonal routines.
Vedic, Classical & Kerala Ganita
Sulba Sutra geometry, Madhava calculus series, and Aryabhatan computational astronomy.
Vāstu Śāstra
The house, the temple and the town, read from the texts that describe them.
Arthashastra & Dharmic Leadership
Kautilyan statecraft, the seven limbs of a state (Saptanga), the treasury and its audit, and the means of diplomacy.
Vrikshayurveda & the Agricultural Texts
What the texts prescribe for soil, seed, water and trees — kuṇapajala liquid manure, plant-based pest treatments and the timing of sowing.
Rasashastra & Ancient Metallurgy
The texts' procedures for purifying (Shodhana) and calcining (Marana) metals and minerals.
Natyashastra & Performing Arts
Rasa-Bhava aesthetics, dramatic structure, Abhinaya, and microtonal musical scales.
Kavya Shastra & Poetic Aesthetics
Dhvani suggestion theory, Alamkara figures of speech, and Chhandas metrics.
Pashu Ayurveda & the Animal Texts
The Shalihotra, Palakapya and Gavayurveda texts on horses, elephants and cattle, read as texts.
Classical Yoga & Its Philosophy
Patañjali's eight limbs, from ethical restraint to meditative absorption, read with Vyāsa's commentary.
Agama Shastra & Temple Consecration
Pancharatra, Shaiva & Shakta liturgical architecture, mudras, and prana-pratishtha.
Shilpa Shastra & Sacred Iconography
Talamana proportion canons, lost-wax bronze casting, stone carving, and iconography.
Shad-Darshanas & Formal Epistemology
Nyaya debate protocols (Vada-Katha), Vaisheshika ontology, and Advaita metaphysics.
Itihasa-Purana & Historiography
Narrative architecture, civilizational memory, ethical archetypes, and puranic chronology.

How the academy teaches
The principles the published syllabi are written to.
Texts first
Every rule is taught from the text that states it, in translation with the Sanskrit for key verses, and every reading list names the edition it uses.
Traditions side by side
Where the schools disagree, each is taught as its own tradition, and a modern practice is named as modern.
The working shown
Every calculation is worked in the open, so a learner can reproduce each answer by hand. In Vāstu the worked examples come from the Ojas Vāstu engine.
Read for what it is
What a text says about fortune or ruin is taught as history, not as prediction. No course is a licence, and none promises a job or an outcome.
Check a certificate the academy issued
Enter a certificate's verification code, and the page reads the academy's own record of it.
From the texts to working tools
What the texts teach, carried into tools that work. The Vāstu rules run today; the rest is the work ahead.
The Vāstu rules, computed
From: Bṛhat Saṃhitā, Mayamata, MānasāraThe Ojas Vāstu engine reads classical and modern Vāstu rules against a plan, and it is the engine behind the Vāstu course's worked examples.
- Directions and true north
- The maṇḍala
- Door positions
- The Āyādi measures
The reference tables are open to anyone; reading a plan of your own needs an account with the Vaasthu plan. Readings are advisory, not structural, legal or planning advice.
Kuṇapajala, from the text to the field
From: Surapāla's VṛkṣāyurvedaThe text prescribes kuṇapajala, a fermented liquid manure, to nourish trees. The work will set down its preparation as the text gives it, try it in the field and publish what is found.
Pāṇini's grammar as working rules
From: Pāṇini's AṣṭādhyāyīThe Aṣṭādhyāyī states Sanskrit grammar as short, ordered rules. The work will write those rules as software that derives a word step by step and shows which rule applied at each step.

Courses for organisations
The academy means to teach teams as well as individuals, starting from two texts: the Arthaśāstra and the Aṣṭādhyāyī.
Leadership: reading the Arthaśāstra
Kauṭilya's account of how a state is run — its seven limbs, its treasury, its counsel and its conduct — read as a text, with the questions it raises for anyone who leads today.
Language: Pāṇini's grammar as a rule system
The Aṣṭādhyāyī as a system of short, ordered rules that generate Sanskrit words and sentences — how the rules are stated, how they interact, and what that design offers to anyone computing with language.
No course for organisations is built yet: none has a price, a schedule or a way to sign up.
Learn moreFive questions the tradition asks of a place of study
Svabhāva (its character), Prayojana (its purpose), Maryādā (its limits), Pālana (its care) and Yajña (what it gives back) — each asked of a place of learning, with what the tradition prescribes for it.
1. Character & Essence
sve sve karmaṇy abhirataḥ saṃsiddhiṃ labhate naraḥ“Each devoted to their own work, a person attains perfection.”
Read here of a place as well as a person: a place is at its best when it is built for what it is.
What is the essential nature of this place, and what conditions does life in it require?
Much building today treats a site as interchangeable — the same glass box in a hot plain and a cold hill, farmland turned into a grid of plots. This question starts the other way round: read the site's climate, soil, slope and sun before drawing anything on it.
“Maintain quiet hours after 9 PM.”
“Keep the place quiet at night, because rest is part of what it is for.”
Keep a study hall for study: a quiet room where teacher and student can work without interruption.
Where the academy sits in IKS Living
Four ventures carry four pillars — time at Pūjāvāni, space at IKS Homes, food at Ojas Agriculture and care at Ojas Care. The academy means to teach the texts each one rests on; Vāstu, the text of space, is the first.
1. Time
An almanac computed for the reader's own city, and the rites that depend on it: when a rite falls, how it is done, and what it needs.
vedā hi yajñārtham abhipravṛttāḥ kālānupūrvā vihitāś ca yajñāḥ“The Vedas came forth for the rites, and the rites are ordained in the order of time — so whoever knows jyotiṣa, the reckoning of time, knows the rites.”
- Today's tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana for your own city, with the moment each one turns
- Auspicious windows for a ceremony in the range you choose
- Puja procedures in order, with the samagri each one needs
- The Vaasthu reference — zones, entrance padas, the named cubits and the classical grids — open to anyone
The almanac and the Vaasthu engine sit on the platform every venture shares, so the others can read the same computation rather than keep their own.
Start with a syllabus
Each programme publishes its syllabus in full — modules, assessment and reading list — so you can judge it on what it teaches.
- Syllabus: Live
The syllabus is published in full — every module, what it covers, how it is assessed and what it asks you to read.
- Enrolment: Coming soon
Enrolment is not open yet: there is no price and no sign-up today. Opening it, with a place for learners to work in the studio, is the next step for these programmes.
