The code
Every certificate the academy issues carries a verification code. The code is the whole lookup: nothing else is asked of you, and nothing is checked in your browser.
The academy's own record
The page asks the academy for the record it holds under that code, at the moment the page loads, and shows it as the academy recorded it.
Its standing
The record states whether the certificate is valid, expired or revoked, and the date it is valid until where it has one.
What a match does not say
A match shows that the academy issued the certificate and what its record says. It is not a degree, and not a licence to practise.
